Valley Gardens Phase 3, Part 2 Seafront, Temporary Suspension of Disabled Badge Holders Only
What is happening?

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC ORDER – VALLEY GARDENS PHASE 3 – PART 2 SEAFRONT
NOTICE is hereby given that Brighton & Hove City Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order pursuant to powers in Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended which when it comes into force will have the following effect:–
Work will be done in phases, and the following will only be in force as and when signed:
a) The temporary suspension of “Disabled badge holders only” parking bays on Madeira Drive from a point 27.6 metres east of the lamp column (opposite) numbered 01 for 53 metres.
b) The temporary suspension and/or diversion of the seafront cycle lane from opposite Pool Valley coach station on Grand Junction Road to Dalton’s Bastion on Madeira Drive.
c) The suspension of bus stop N on Grand Junction Road.
d) The temporary suspension of the motorcycle parking bay on Grand Junction Road (from a point 7 metres east of a prolongation of the eastern kerbline of Brills Lane eastwards for 14.5 metres).
e) The temporary suspension of the loading bay on Grand Junction Road (from a point 1.2 metres east of the eastern kerbline of Brills Lane eastwards for 15 metres).
f) The temporary suspension of loading bays and bus stops in Pool Valley coach station.
g) The suspension of the existing “No Entry” into Pool Valley from its junction with the A259, to allow access.
h) The temporary closure of Charles Street, Manchester Street and Broad Street at their junctions with Marine Parade.
i) The temporary suspension of the existing one-way traffic order on: Charles Street, Manchester Street and Broad Street to allow for two-way access.
j) The temporary closure of the following roads: Castle Square, Old Steine, Marine Parade, Madeira Drive, Grand Junction Road.
The Order is necessary to allow contractors to carry out works relating to Valley Gardens Phase 3.
Pedestrian and cycle access will be maintained, and a signed diversion route will be in place for vehicular traffic where necessary.
This Order comes into force on 15 December 2025 for eighteen months or until such sooner time as the works are completed.
