Cumberland - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE CUMBERLAND COUNCIL AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) (NO.14) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 1 December 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is only anticipated that each road will be required as stated in the schedule, and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

1. C2047 West Curthwaite, near Thursby – 1 December 2025 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours

From a point adjacent to the property known as Rose Bank, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 80m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2047 and C2048.

2. U2263 William Street, Wigton – 10 December 2025 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours
(Ref:TTROC/16468)
From its junction with George Street, extending in a southerly direction for approx. 80m.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.

3. U2159 Rosley – 10 December 2025 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours
(Ref:TTROC/16470)
From its junction with the B5305, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 160m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U2159, C2058 and B5305.

4. C2049 Raughton Head – 11 December 2025 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours
(Ref:TTROC/16484)
From its junction with the C1018, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 420m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C1018, C1036, Thistlewood B5305 and C2049.

5. U3456, Sowerby – 11 December 2025 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours
(Ref:TTROC/16500)
From its junction with the B5305, extending in a north easterly direction for approx. 130m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the U3456, C2049 and B5305.

6. C2017 Pelutho – 15 December 2025 for approx. 2 days between 0830 and 1630 hours
(Ref:TTROC/16509)
From its junction with the U2044, extending in a south westerly direction for approx. 410m.
Alternative Route: via the unrestricted sections of the C2017, B5301, C2015 and B5302.
