Essex - Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Construction, Maintenance, and Utility Works
What is happening?

(Footpath 59 & Footpath 58, Rivenhall)
(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).
Effect of the order: To temporarily close to all pedestrians Footpath 59 & Footpath 58, Rivenhall in the District of Braintree as specified below.

The temporary closures are scheduled to take place on 23 November 2025 to 23 May 2026 where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce whilst construction works are undertaken.
Alternative route: Temporary haul road, Evans Way, Round Drive and Rectory Lane.
The Order will come into effect on the 23 November 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is earlier.
(Footpath 124, Witham) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 124, Witham in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 39 metres north of Footpath 90 for approximately 20 metres.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 1 December 2025 to 1 May 2026 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge maintenance works including repair of concrete parapets is undertaken.
Alternative route: Footpath 90, Maldon Road, River View and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 1 December 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Church Lane, Braintree and Bocking)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Church Lane, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 40m west of its junction with Eagle Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd December 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30017331781– UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new supply works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via B1053, A131, A120, B1256, B184, B1051, B1053 and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Coggeshall Road, Feering)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Coggeshall Road, Feering in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 150m south west of its junction with The Street for a distance of approximately 150m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th January 2026 for 1 night (22:00 – 06:00), or where stated on a valid permit (KL701LTN1-42-79-300126 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge examination works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Coggeshall Road, B1024, Feering Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Little London Hill, Finchingfield)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Little London Hill, Finchingfield in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Howe Street for a distance of approximately 1000m in a north westerly then north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 19th January 2026 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02289519557 – Stour Valley Traffic Management). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree cutting works are undertaken by Stour Valley Traffic Management.
An alternative route is available via B1057, B1053, B1055, B1054 and vice versa.The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(East Street, Braintree and Bocking)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of East Street, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from its junction with Manor Street to its junction with Coggeshall Road a distance of approximately 330m.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th December 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387790 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Manor Street, Albert Road, Coggeshall Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Moat Road, Stisted & Moat Farm Road/ Plaistow Green, Greenstead Green)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Moat Road, Stisted & Moat Farm Road/Plaistow Green, Greenstead Green in the District of Braintree, from the junction of Kream Lane to the junction of Plaistow Green Road a distance of approximately 2300m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th December 2025 for 10 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2390952 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
An alternative route is available via Folly Green, Tumblers Green, Brook Farm Road, Stisted Road, Grange Hill, Ravens Hall Road, Gladen Hall Road, Kelleher’s Lane, Plaistow Green Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Various Roads, District of Braintree)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.17) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.
2. A temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping" restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping restriction will be in force.
'The Essex County Council (Braintree District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019' will be temporarily amended to include the temporary "No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time" restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.
The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 20th November 2025; exact dates will be specified on One.Network.
The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.
