Essex Multiple Roads, Temporary Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Epping New Road, Buckhurst Hill/Loughton Town & Manor Road & Rangers Road, Buckhurst Hill) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. To temporarily close that length of Epping New Road, Buckhurst Hill/Loughton Town in the District of Epping Forest, from the junction of Brook Road to the junction of Wake Arms Roundabout a distance of approximately 5700m.

2. To temporarily close that length of Manor Road, Buckhurst Hill in the District of Epping Forest, from the junction of Epping New Road to the junction of High Road a distance of approximately 475m.

3. To temporarily close that length of Rangers Road, Buckhurst Hill in the District of Epping Forest from its junction with Epping New Road 705m in a south westerly direction to the Waltham Forest Border.

The closures are scheduled to commence on 18th January 2026 for 42 nights (20:00 - 05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP20170173502/EP20165256589 & EP20161722215 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while speed camera installation works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

Alternative routes are available via:

1. A104, A121 and vice versa.

2. A112, A110, A1069 and vice versa

The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Various Roads, District of Epping Forest)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) & (North Street/Pecks Hill, Waltham Abbey & Sedge Green, Waltham Abbey/ Harlow & Hamlet Hill/Tylers Road, Harlow)

(Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) (No.13) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Epping Forest as specified in the schedule to this Order.

2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of North Street/Pecks Hill, Waltham Abbey & Sedge Green, Waltham Abbey/Harlow & Hamlet Hill/Tylers Road, Harlow, From the junction of Epping Road Roundabout to the junction of Middle Street a distance of approximately 5180m as detailed in “The Essex County Council (Various Roads, Roydon And Nazeing) (7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2010” for the duration of the closures only.

3. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on those lengths of road as specified in the schedule. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Epping Forest District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 4th December 2025 exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion route will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

Gravel Lane, Chigwell From its junction with Lambourne Road to it junction with Abridge Road a distance of approximately 3180m A1112, A12, A123, A113 and vice versa.
Rangers Road, Buckhurst Hill From its junction with Epping New Road for a distance of approximately 725m in a south westerly direction to Waltham Forest County Border. A104, A110, A1069 and vice versa.

Valley Hill, Loughton Town From its junction with Malvern Gardens for a distance of approximately 290m in south westerly direction. Valley Hill, Loughton Way, B170, A121, A1168, Oakwood Hill, Valley Hill and vice versa.

(Various Roads, District of Harlow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.17) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

1. o temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Harlow as specified in the schedule.

2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above lengths of road for the duration of the closures to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

“The Essex County Council (Harlow District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 4th December 2025; exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. (Laundry Lane, Nazeing) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Laundry Lane, Nazeing in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 510m north west of its junction with Waltham Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction.

  • The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th December 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30069271090 – UK Power Networks).

  • The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

  • The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new electric connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

    An alternative route is available via St Leonards Road, Waltham Road and vice versa.

    • The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Mutton Row, Stanford Rivers) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order:

    To temporarily close that length of Mutton Row, Stanford Rivers in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 450m south east of its junction with Toot Hill Road a distance of approximately 240m in a south easterly direction.

    • The closure is scheduled to commence on 11th December 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (KA250GCX005717 – Gigaclear).

    • The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while chamber replacement and repair works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

    An alternative route is available via Mutton Row, Drapers Corner, Greensted Road, Toot Hill Road, School Road, Mutton Row and vice versa.

    • The Order will come into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Potter Street, Harlow) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order:

    To temporarily close that length of Potter Street, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from its junction with Red Lion Lane to its junction with Pinewood Close a distance of approximately 295m.

    • The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th December 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WDJG1F3ETHSB – Openreach).
    • The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

    • The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while gully cleaning works are undertaken by Openreach.

    An alternative route is available via Potter Street, Carters Mead, Southern Way and vice versa.

    • The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Various Roads, Epping Forest) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (Streetworks No.2) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order:

    To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Epping Forest as detailed in the Schedule.

    • The works are scheduled to commence after 20th November 2025, as stated on a valid permit.
    • The scheduled dates may vary for those works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on One.Network.
    • The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services.

      • Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the roads.

      The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while micro ducting works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

      • The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
