Essex - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Maintenance Works

What is happening?

Essex County Council
(Bartlow Road, Hadstock)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bartlow Road, Hadstock in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 345m south east then north east of its junction with Moules Lane for a distance of approximately 110m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 23rd December 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411NL001WG6F431C – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Bartlow Road, B1052, A1307, Bartlow Road, Dean Road, Hadstock Road, Bartlow Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Freshwell Street, Saffron Walden)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Freshwell Street, Saffron Walden in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 70m south west of its junction with Bridge Street for a distance of approximately 60m in a south westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 22nd December 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WGGF6M9M – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
No alternative route available (with access only into Freshwell Street). The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Ickleton Road, Great Chesterford)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ickleton Road, Great Chesterford in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 140m north west of its junction with Newmarket Road for a distance of approximately 45m in a north westerly direction to the Cambridgeshire border. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th January 2026 for 1 night (00:01–04:30), or where stated on a valid permit (KL736BGK-45-75-140126 – Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while fault repair works are undertaken by Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd.
An alternative route is available via Ickleton Road, B1383, B184, A1301, North End Road, High Street (C525), Duxford Road, Hinxton Road, St Peters Street (C284), Ickleton Road (C284), Duxford Road (C284), Abbey Street (C284), Frogg Street and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Bardfield Road, Thaxted)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Bardfield Road, Thaxted in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 695m north east then south east of its junction with Mill End for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th December 2025 for 8 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30018222797 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.
An alternative route is available via B1057, B1053, B1051, Newbiggen Street, Mill End and vice versa (with access only into Bardfield Road, Little Bardfield Road, Little Sampford Road and Bell Lane).
The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Littlebury Green Road, Littlebury)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Littlebury Green Road, Littlebury in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 860m south west of its junction with Chapel Green Road for a distance of approximately 320m in a south westerly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th December 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02256549109 – GTM). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree cutting works are undertaken by GTM.
An alternative route is available via Littlebury Green Road, Strethall Road, B1383, B1039 and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Strethall Road, Strethall/Littlebury)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Strethall Road, Strethall/Littlebury in the District of Uttlesford, from a point approximately 350m in a south east of the junction of Batts Lane for a distance of approximately 735m in a south easterly direction.
The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th December 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP02263759655 – GTM). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while tree cutting works are undertaken by GTM.
An alternative route is available via Batts Hall Lane, Catmere End, Littlebury Green Road, Strethall Road, High Street and vice versa (with access only into Strethall Road).
The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Warehouse Road, Stebbing)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Warehouse Road, Stebbing in the District of Uttlesford, from its junction with Dunmow Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a northerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 10th December 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008WGJL691C01SB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway patching works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via B1256, Brookend Road, Watch House Road, Warehouse Road, Stebbing Road, Porters Hall Road, Warehouse Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
