Various Roads, Girton - Speed Limits Consolidation Order
What is happening?
CAMBRIDGESHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(Various Roads, Girton) (Speed Limits) (Consolidation), Order 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that on the 26th November 2025 Cambridgeshire County Council made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers.
The effect of this Order is to introduce a 20mph speed limit over the full length of the following roads in the Parish of Girton; Girton Road, Thornton Road, Thornton Close, Thornton way, Thornton Court, St Margarets Road, Wilderspin Close, Barndon Road, The Brambles and on Wellbrook Way from its junction with Girton Road in an easterly direction for 67m.
For administrative purposes the following Orders are revoked, though their effects, as amended by the proposed, shall be consolidated into this Order: Cambridgeshire County Council (Various Roads, Oakington & Westwick) (20mph Zone & 40mph Speed Limit) Order 2022, Cambridgeshire County Council (Dry Drayton Road, Oakington) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2019
A copy of the above Order, which comes into operation on the 4th December 2025 together with plans showing the effect of the Order and a Statement of the Reason for making the Order, may be inspected via our online traffic consultation portal here – https://consultation.appyway.com/south-cambridgeshire and select the Order Cambridgeshire County Council (Various Roads, Girton) (Speed Limits) (Consolidation) Order 2025 or copies requested by emailing policyandregulation@cambridgeshire.gov.uk
Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any provision contained in it on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, on the grounds that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks from the 26th November 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
