What is happening?

SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
LIZARD LANE, WHITBURN
TRAFFIC CALMING PROPOSALS 2025

South Tyneside Council proposes under Sections 90A and 90C of the Highways Act 1980 and the Highways (Road Humps) Regulations 1999 to undertake the following: Install traffic calming consisting of a full width road hump on Lizard Lane, Whitburn. The proposed traffic calming will consist of a raised surface of up to 100mm above the existing carriageway. The proposed locations are as follows in the below schedules:
Schedule 1 – Rd Hump (Kerb to kerb width with drainage channels x up to 9.0m length)

Lizard Lane, Whitburn
From a point 12.5m of its junc.
with Westcroft.

The traffic calming is necessary to reduce traffic speeds and will replace existing speed cushions. Details of these proposals may be inspected from Monday to Friday during normal office hours at the Council’s South Shields Town Hall (Customer Service Centre) at the address below. If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any other observations about these proposals, you must make them in writing at the address below
(addressed for the attention of Traffic & Rd Safety/ ref (PS26-2025-26-AL)
by 24 12 2025. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
