Sweden Bridge Lane and Nook Lane, Ambleside - Temporary Road Closures due to Utility Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL
(SWEDEN BRIDGE LANE AND NOOK LANE, AMBLESIDE)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along that section of;

(i) Sweden Bridge Lane, Ambleside, from its junction with the Kirkstone Road, extending in a northerly direction to its junction with Belle Vue Lane.
Alternative Route: via Belle Vue Lane, Nook Lane, Smithy Brow and Kirkstone Road.
Duration: From 1st December 2025 for approx. 3 days (Ref: TTROW/16360)

(ii) Nook Lane, Ambleside, from its junction with Belle Vue Avenue, extending in a northerly direction for a distance of approx. 450 metres.
There is no suitable alternative route available for vehicles.
Duration: From 15th December 2025 for approx. 5 days (Ref: TTROW/16142)

The Order will come into operation on 1st December 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
