What is happening?

THE CITY OF EDINBURGH COUNCIL

(MEADOW PLACE ROAD (B701) AND SOUTH GYLE ACCESS AREA) ORDER 2025 - TEMP/25/151

The Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be that for a temporary period, to facilitate road & footway improvements for the West Edinburgh Link project, no person shall: (a) except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform, drive or cause or permit any vehicle to be driven on the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 1, otherwise than in the direction specified in column 2 of the said Schedule, provided that no more than one of the measures described in Schedule 1 shall be enacted at any time; & (b) walk or cause or permit any person to walk on any part of the footpaths or footways specified in Schedule 2. The southbound bus lane on Sth Gyle Access shall be suspended for the duration of this Order to facilitate southbound traffic and traffic management lane closures. The alternative route for through vehicular traffic in relation to the one-way roads on Sth Gyle Access is Bankhead Dr, Broomhouse Rd (B701), Meadow Pl Rd (B701), Glasgow Rd (A8) & Sth Gyle Broadway. The alternative route for through pedestrian traffic in relation to the footpath or footway closure of: (a) The Unnamed Footpath Between Meadow Pl Rd (B701) & Torwood Cres is Meadow Pl Rd (B701), Broomhouse Rd (B701), Bankhead Dr, Sth Gyle Access, Sth Gyle Wynd, Dunipace Rd & Torwood Cres; (b) The Unnamed Footpaths Between Sth Gyle Access & Flassches Yard is Sth Gyle Access, Sth Gyle Cres & Flassches Yard; (c) Meadow Pl Rd (B701), west side is Meadow Pl Rd (B701), east side; & (d) Sth Gyle Access, west side is Sth Gyle Access (east side). The Order shall have effect from 03/12/25 to 03/08/26, & during the hours & dates specified in Schedules 1 & 2.

SCHEDULE 1 ONE-WAY ROADS:  

(a) between 19:00 hours & 06:00 hours each day from 02/04/26 to 16/04/26 on:

South Gyle Access, in its entirety.  South to North

(b)  between 19:00 hours & 06:00 hours each day from 04 /04/26 to 18/04/26 on :

Road in Edinburgh  Direction
South Gyle Access, in its entirety.  North to South

SCHEDULE 2 FOOTPATH OR FOOTWAY CLOSURES:

From 03/12/25 to 02/06/26 on: (a) The Unnamed Footpath Between Meadow Pl Rd (B701) & Torwood Cres, from a point on Meadow Pl Rd, 121m north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Forrester Pk Ave, westwards & then southwestwards to its junction with Torwood Cres; (b) The Unnamed Footpaths Between Sth Gyle Access and Flassches Yard; (i) from a point on South Gyle Access, 115m north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Bankhead Dr, north-westwards to its junction with Flassches Yard; & (ii) from a point on Sth Gyle Access, 194m or north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Bankhead Drive, south-westwards to its junction with Flassches Yard; (c) Meadow Pl Rd (B701), west side, from a point 118m north-west of the extended north-west kerbline of Forrester Pk Ave, north-westwards for 73m; & (d) South Gyle Access, west side, in its entirety.
