What is happening?

WIGAN COUNCIL
Crawford Avenue, Tyldesley, Outside House Number 46 – Temporary Closure
Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Crawford Avenue, Tyldesley, outside House Number 46) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Crawford Avenue, Tyldesley, outside House Number 46 during the period of 19th January 2026 to 30th January 2026.
The alternative route for traffic is: York Avenue – Lancaster Avenue.
The Order is necessary to allow new manhole in carriageway.
Hamilton Street, Atherton – Prohibition Of Waiting
Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Various Roads in Wigan Borough) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.610) Order 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:
Hamilton Street, Atherton (South side) from a point 24 metres west of its junction with Bee Fold Lane, to a point 10 metres east of its junction with Bee Fold Lane
Bee Fold Lane, Atherton (Both sides) from its junction with Hamilton Street, to a point 10 metres south of its junction with Hamilton Street.
There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait to enable people to board or alight; for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to the traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are for service or police vehicles or ambulances, and if the vehicle is in connection with a funeral; to take on fuel, water or air at any garage; for the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or unloading; or in the event of an accident.
The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order the vehicle may be removed.
A copy of the proposed Order, the Order to be amended, the relevant map and a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be requested by emailing: s.eccles-churton@wigan.gov.uk
Any objection to the Order must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and Democratic Services, the Resources and Elections Division, Wigan Council, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN or by emailing the above email address quoting reference RD/LS/SEC/4863556 not later than 24th December 2025.
Coal Pit Lane, Leigh – Temporary Closure
Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Coal Pit Lane, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Coal Pit Lane, Leigh at its junction with Westleigh Lane on 24th January 2026 between the hours of 8.30AM and 1.00PM.
Access will be maintained where possible.
The Order is necessary to allow replacement of frame and cover.
Westleigh Lane, Leigh – Temporary Closure
Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Westleigh Lane, Leigh) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Westleigh Lane, Leigh at its junction with Coal Pit Lane on 24th January 2026 between the hours of 8.30AM and 1.00PM.
The alternative route for traffic is: Nel Pan Lane – Wigan Road – Twist Lane – Atherleigh Way.
The Order is necessary to allow replacement of frame and cover.
