What is happening?

Manchester City Council

Manchester City Council made the following order under the Road traffic Regulation Act 1984.

City Of Manchester (Copson Street, Withington) (Pedestrian and Cycle Zone) Order 2025

The effect of the Order will be to introduce the following restrictions. Proposed No Waiting At Any Time on:

Copson St - NE side from its junction with Wilmslow Rd to its junction with Moorfield St. SW side from a point 20m SE of its junction with Patten St in a S easterly direction for a distance of 3.5m. SW side from a point 33m SE of its junction with Patten St to its junction with Wilmslow Rd. SW side from its junction with Patten St in a S easterly direction for a distance of 11.5m. Proposed No Loading At Any Time on:

Copson St - NE side from its junction with Wilmslow Rd to its junction with Moorfield St. SW side from a point 20m SE of its junction with Patten St in a S easterly direction for a distance of 3.5m. SW side from a point 33m SE of its junction with Pat-ten St to its junction with Wilmslow Rd. SW side from its junction with Patten St in a S easterly direction for a distance of 11.5m. Proposed Disabled Persons Parking Place on:

Copson St - SW side from a point 11.5m SE of its junction with Patten St in a S easterly direction for a distance of 8.5m. Proposed Loading and Unloading Parking Place Mon-Sun 6am-11am 30 Minutes Only on:

Copson St - SW side from a point 23.5m SE of its junction with Patten St in a S easterly direction for a distance of 9.5m. Proposed One Way Traffic on: Copson St - from its junction with Patten St to its junction with Wilmslow Rd. Proposed Prohibition Of Driving except for cycles; or loading/unloading of vehicles between 6.00a.m and 11a.m; or any disabled persons vehicle and Access

Copson St - from its junction with Patten St to its junction with Wilmslow Rd. Proposed Prohibition Of Right Turn on:

Patten St - into Copson St. The Order will come into operation on the 2nd December 2025.

Existing Orders have been amended to be consistent with the proposals. Copy of the made Order, the plans showing the proposals may be inspected at Customer Service Centre Ground Floor, Town Hall Extension, M60 2LA (for Sat. Nav. use M2 5DB) between 9.00am and 4.30pm on Mon - Fri.

Anyone wishing to question the validity of the Orders or any provision contained in them on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 or that any requirement of that Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with in relation to the Orders may within 6 weeks from 28th November 2025 apply to the High Court for such purpose.
