Cumberland, Multiple Traffic Notices, Consolidation and updates to traffic regulations including new and amended parking and waiting restrictions

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS, MARYPORT AND SURROUNDING AREA) (CONSOLIDATION AND PROVISION OF TRAFFIC REGULATIONS) ORDER 20><

  1. Cumberland Council hereby give notice that it proposes to make the above Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (4), 19, 32, 35, 35A, 38, 45, 46, 47, 49, 51, 53 and 64 and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

  2. The effect of the Order will be to consolidate the provisions of the Cumberland Council (Various Roads, Maryport and Surrounding Area) (Consolidation and Provision of Traffic Regulations) Order 2024; AND

    (a) Introduce/amend (as applicable) “No Waiting At Any Time” (double yellow line) restrictions on parts of the following: -

    (i) Lonsdale View, Browside Road, Maryport Road and Central Road, Dearham;

    (ii) Lawson Street, Fleming Square and Centenary Close, Maryport;

    (iii) Wood Street, Maryport (in place of the existing 30 minute disc parking 8.30 am – 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday inclusive restriction);

    (iv) North Quay, Strand Street, King Street and Nelson Street, Maryport (see also paragraph 2(b));

    (v) Glasson Industrial Estate; and

    (vi) Lowther Street, Flimby

    (b) Introduce “Disabled Parking, Monday to Saturday inclusive, 8.30 am – 6.00pm, maximum stay 3 hours, no return within 3 hours” on parts of North Quay, Strand Street, King Street and Nelson Street, Maryport;

    (c) Introduce 3 hour waiting limit, no return within 3 hours to the existing disabled parking, Monday to Saturday inclusive, 8.30 am – 6.00 pm restriction on Senhouse Street, and Lowther Senhouse Street, Maryport;
