Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

A290 St Dunstans Street, Canterbury, CT2 7EP (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow carriageway works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of A290 St Dunstans Street, Canterbury from 22:00 hours on 8th December 2025, with estimated completion by 05:00 hours on 9th December 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed southbound only for the entire length of the road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any southbound through traffic is via London Road, A2050 Rheims Way, A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Lower Bridge Street, Broad Street, Military Road, Tourtel Road, B2248 Kingsmead Road, St Stephens Road, Station Road West and A290 St Dunstans Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Church Street, Whitstable, CT5 1SR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Street, Whitstable from 10th December 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with The Bridge Approach, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Castle Road, The Bridge Approach, Old Bridge Road, Millstrood Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Church Street and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Matthews Road, Herne Bay, CT6 7SG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow drainage repair works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Matthews Road, Herne Bay from 9th December 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 08:00 and 17:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with Rowland Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Rowland Drive, Gilchrist Avenue, Herne Drive, Matthews Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Riverdale Road, Canterbury, CT1 1TX (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow frame and cover replacement works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Riverdale Road, Canterbury from 19:00 hours on 12th December 2025, with estimated completion by 05:30 hours on 13th December 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed at the junction with A28 Sturry Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.



Shalloak Road, Broad Oak, CT2 0PR (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER DECEMBER 2025

To allow drainage works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Shalloak Road, Broad Oak from 8th December 2025 with estimated completion by 10th December 2025, between the hours of 19:00 and 08:00 only, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed south of the level crossing, from access to Viridor to immediately past the road bend, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Shalloak Road, Vauxhall Road, A28 Sturry Road, Mill Road, A291 Sturry Hill, Herne Bay Road, Sweechgate and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.
