C5082 Beckgate, Barbon - Temporary Speed Restrictions due to Dangerous Bridge Condition
What is happening?

(C5082 BECKGATE, BARBON)
(TEMPORARY 40MPH AND 20 MPH SPEED RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that because of the likelihood of danger to the public, due to the dangerous condition of Barbon Bridge Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from:-
1. Proceeding at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour along that section of the C5082 Beckgate, Barbon from its junction with Ellerigg Lane, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 225 metres.
2. Proceeding at speeds in excess of 20 miles per hour along that section of the C5082 Beckgate, Barbon from a point approx. 225 metres south east of its junction with Ellerigg Lane extending in a south easterly direction then south westerly direction for approx. 180 metres.
This follows emergency notices dated 20 October 2025 and 10 November 2025.
No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.

The Order will come into operation on 1 December 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
