What is happening?

MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL
TEMPORARY ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER
ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 SECTION 14 (AS AMENDED)

Notice is hereby given that the City Council has made the following Temporary Road Traffic Order(s):

ORDER NO. MCC146848509: The City of Manchester (Whitworth Street East, Press Street, Clayton & Openshaw Ward)(Temporary Prohibition of Vehicular Traffic) (Temporary Suspension of One-Way Traffic) Order 2025 under s14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit vehicular traffic on Whitworth Street East From Widnes Street to Press Street. The effect of the Order is to suspend the one-way traffic restriction on Press Street, From Lowton Street to Widnes Street. The alternative routes for traffic will be: Whitworth Street East, Dakley Street, South Street, Westlake Street, Ashton Old Road, Lees Street, Ogden Lane, Cornwall Street, Lawton Street. The City Council is satisfied that this prohibition is necessary in order to facilitate Utility works. It is expected that the works will be in progress from 3rd December 2025 to 12th December 2025. The order shall come into operation on 3rd December 2025 and may remain in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. If all necessary works are completed within a shorter period, the Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period. Kevin Gillham.
