City Road (Upper Level) - Prohibition Any Vehicular Traffic To Works
What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
(CITY ROAD (UPPER LEVEL)) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2026
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne intend, not less than seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicular traffic to proceed on City Road (Upper Level) westbound lane from a point 22 metres west of its junction with Gibson Street to its junction with Milk Market.
2. The alternative route for traffic will be signed on site as required.
3. The order is required to allow works to be carried out on or near the highway.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles engaged in the said works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 12 January 2026 at 06:00 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 23 January 2026 at 15:00 or until the proposed works are completed, whichever is the earlier.
