Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The A21 GLA Road (Lewisham High Street, London Borough of Lewisham) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic, Stopping and Suspension of Bus Lane) Order 2025

  1. Transport for London hereby gives notice that it intends to make the above named Traffic Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 for the purpose specified in paragraph 2. The effect of the Order is summarised in paragraph 3.

  2. The purpose of the Order is to enable highway investigation works to take place at A21 Lewisham High Street.

  3. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any vehicle from:

    (1) stopping at the north-western kerb line of Lewisham High Street between its junctions with Whitburn Road and Curness Street;

    (2) proceeding from the westbound to the eastbound carriageway of Molesworth Street at the roundabout at the junctions of Molesworth Street, Lewisham High Street and Endgate Street;

    (3) proceeding from the eastbound to the westbound carriageway of Molesworth Street at the roundabout at the junctions of Molesworth Street, Lewisham High Street and Endgate Street.

The Order will also allow all vehicles to use the south-bound Bus Lane on Lewisham High Street between its junctions with Molesworth Street and Morley Road.

The Order will be effective at certain times between 8th December 2025 and 7th March 2026 every night from 9.00 PM until 5.00 AM or when the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. The prohibition will apply only during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

  1. The prohibitions will not apply in respect of:

    (1) any vehicle being used for the purposes of those works or for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes;

    (2) anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by Transport for London.

  2. At such times as the prohibitions are in force alternative routes will be indicated by traffic signs for access to Lewisham High Street from Molesworth Street via Brownhill Road, Sangley Road and Lewisham High Street to normal route of travel. For access to the Westbound carriageway of Molesworth Street via Molesworth Street, Loampit Vale, Jerrard Street, Thurston Street, Loampit Vale and Molesworth Street to normal route of travel.
