Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Abingdon, A4183, Oxford Road (Lodge Hill)

30mph Speed Limit and road closures

Date of Order: 24 November 2025

Coming into force: 1 December 2025

This Order is being introduced for road safety because of interchange improvements to add new south-facing slip roads to the A34 and provision of a private road. The works are anticipated to be completed 8 March 2026 and will operate between 20:00 and 06:00hours. The effect of the Order is to temporarily reduce vehicle speed from 50mph to 30mph from Sugworth Lane to the junction with Lodge Hill (Slip). There will also be closures of the west road and the A34 junction in phases as required mostly overnight. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. The relevant part of the Oxfordshire County Council (Kennington and South Hinksey) (Speed Limits) Order 2023 is suspended for the duration of the works in respect of the 50mph speed limit. Exemptions are included for police, fire and ambulance services. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. Radley, Road running through Lower Radley

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 18 August 2025

Date came into force: 25 August 2025

This Order was introduced to relined the sewer pipe in the carriageway in 2 phases – delays in starting the works mean they are now anticipated to be completed 22 December 2025. This will operate in night work sections 21:00 to 05:00hrs and for the day shift sections 07:30 to 17:30hrs. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the whole length of road running through Lower Radley from No.57 to the railway overpass. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic affected by the closure is via semi-circular road passing Gooseacre Farm. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is sooner. (Ref T16073/AC)
