What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Ecn07020, Chelmsford) (Temporary Closure of Footpath and Cycleway) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Ecn07020, Chelmsford in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 10m north east of the junction with Brook Street for a distance of approximately 280m in a north easterly direction. 

The footway closure is scheduled to commence on 5th January 2026 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN013309610 - Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The footway closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while metered connection works are undertaken by Essex and Suffolk Water.

No alternative diversion route is available.

The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(East Hanningfield Road, Sandon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of East Hanningfield Road, Sandon in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 50m north west of its junction with Southlands Chase for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 9th January 2026 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30054972168 - UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new pole and service installation works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via East Hanningfield Road, Southend Road, Main Road, East Hanningfield Road, Main Road, The Tye, The Common, East Hanningfield Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(East View, Writtle) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of East View, Writtle in the City of Chelmsford, from both of its junctions with Victoria Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a south easterly direction and 20m in a south westerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th January 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M154444A - Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while permanent reinstatement works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

An alternative route is available via Victoria Road, Ongar Road, East View and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Jubilee Avenue, Broomfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Jubilee Avenue, Broomfield in the City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 130m north west of its junction with Main Road for a distance of approximately 15m in a north westerly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th January 2026 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30016152106 - UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new pole and overhead service works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Jubilee Way, Main Road, Broomhall Road, Church Avenue and vice versa. (with access only into Jubilee Way).

The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(New Dukes Way, Chelmer Village) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of New Dukes Way, Chelmer Village in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Cuton Hall Lane Roundabout for a distance of approximately 70m in a south westerly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th January 2026 for 7 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ1031001459318 - Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while emergency gas works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via
1. New Dukes Way, Cuton Hall Roundabout, Cuton Hall Lane, A138, Beeleigh Link Roundabout.
2. New Dukes Way, Beeleigh Link Roundabout, Chelmer Road, A138, B1137, Cuton Hall Lane, Cuton Roundabout and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 4th December 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Broomfield Road, Broomfield) (Temporary Closure of Cycle Lane) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Broomfield Road, Broomfield (Cycle Lane) in City of Chelmsford, from a point approximately 10m south west of its junction with Second Avenue for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. 

The cycle lane closure is scheduled to commence on 1st December 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP0222980230 - Stour Valley TM). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The cycle lane closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drop kerb works are undertaken by Stour Valley TM.

An alternative route is available via B1008.

The Order came into effect on 27th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Moor Hall Lane, Bicknacre) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Moor Hall Lane, Bicknacre in the City of Chelmsford, from its junction with Bicknacre Road for a distance of approximately 295m in a north easterly direction. 

The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th December 2025 for 9 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP003S50-2988 - Capital Road Safety). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new water connection works are undertaken by Capital Road Safety.

An alternative route is available via Moor Hall Lane, Bicknacre Road, Priory Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 20th November 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
