What is happening?
CITY OF NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE (ENCHANTED CITY) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on 24 November 2025 the Council of the City of Newcastle upon Tyne made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and has received consent from the Secretary of State for Transport to make such an Order.
2. The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all traffic to proceed on the following lengths of road -
i. Northumberland Road, between College Street and Radnor Street.
ii. Back Ellison Place North, for its entire length.
3. The Order is required in connection with Enchanted City (“the Event”) and reduce the disruption to traffic likely to be caused by the Event.
The Order is required to allow the Event to be carried out safely on or near the highway and to ensure the health and safety of the public.
4. Exemptions will be provided for vehicles and personnel engaged in the works and police, fire brigade and ambulance vehicles and personnel on emergency call.
5. The Order will come into operation on 8 December 2025 and will continue, as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed, up to 15 December 2025.
