NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF A MODIFICATION ORDER

SECTION 53 OF THE WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981

The Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way for the County of Lancashire

FOOTPATH FROM ROSLEY STREET TO TRAWDEN ROAD VIA BRIGHT STREET, WINEWALL, TRAWDEN, Definitive Map Modification Order 2025

On the 27th day of November 2025 Lancashire County Council confirmed the above Order.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement of Public Rights of Way for the area, by recording a Footpath from an open junction with Rosley Street opposite Cotton Tree Inn. The route runs in a south south westerly direction along the full length of Bright Street and continues from the end of the street through a gap between stone gateposts partially restricted by wooden fecing and a wooden post with a gap sufficient for pedestrian access where a trodden path continues in a more west south westerly direction over rough grassland for a distance of 50 metres to pass through a gap between the end of a stone wall and end of a fence with a single post in the middle and then continues a short distance (3 metres) across a tarmac access road to the open junction with the adopted width of Trawden Road B6250.

A copy of the Order and the Order Map may be seen free of charge at the offices of Pendle Borough Council, and at my offices from 9am to 5pm on weekdays. Copies of the order and map may be bought there at the price of £1.00.

Alternatively, digital copies of the Order and Order Map may be requested by emailing

The Order took effect on the 27th day of November 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the Order desires to question the validity on the grounds that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or that any of the requirements of Schedule 15 to the Act have not been complied with in relation to the Order, he may, under Paragraph 11 of Schedule 15 to the Act, within 42 days from the date of publication of this Notice, make an application for the purpose to the High Court.
