What is happening?

(PUBLIC FOOTPATH UE24 (PART), IRTHLINGBOROUGH)
(SEASONAL CLOSURE AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that North Northamptonshire Council has made an Order under Sections 1 to 5 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
The general effect of the Order is to:
• prohibit pedestrians from using a part of Public Footpath UE24 in Irthlingborough between Points A - B on a seasonal basis, from 1 October to 1 March annually; and
• provide a temporary alternative route along Points A - C - B during this period.
This Order is required to avoid danger to pedestrians using the footpath and to preserve the character of the area and protect the surrounding environment. The Order will come into effect on 1st December 2025.
INSPECTION OF ORDER A copy of the Order and the plan showing the affected route may be inspected at: Kier Highways, Highways Depot, Old Harborough Road, Brixworth, Northants, NN6 9BX at a time and date specified by appointment only by calling 01604 529700. A copy of the Order can also be obtained on request by emailing NNCParkingenquiries@ kier.co.uk
LEGAL CHALLENGE If any person wishes to question the validity of the Order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under it has not been complied with, they may apply to the High Court within six weeks from the date of this Notice.

The route then heads generally northeast for approximately 510 metres, to point B at NGR SP9519 6949. The route to be closed is shown by a solid black line on the map between points A - B. |
| ALTERNATIVE |
| The alternative route to be used commences at the same ‘Point A,’ at (NGR) SP9490 6951 where it travels generally northeast for approximately 332 metres to Point C at (NGR) SP 9504 6966. It then heads in a south-easterly direction for 307 metres to Point B at (NGR) SP9519 6949. The alternative route is shown by a broken black line between points A - C - B. |
