THE DERBYSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL (DIG STREET AND COMPTON, ASHBOURNE) (7.5 TONNE ENVIRONMENTAL WEIGHT LIMIT) EXPERIMENTALORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that, on Thursday the 20 November 2025 Derbyshire County Council made an Experimental Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and its effect is:
TO PROHIBIT MOTOR VEHICLES EXCEEDING 7.5 TONNES (EXCEPT FOR ACCESS) Compton (A515), Ashbourne
Both sides
From its junction with A517 Station Road to its junction with A515 Dig Street.
Dig Street (A515), Ashbourne
Both sides
From its junction with A515 Compton to its junction with Church Street/St Johns Street.
A copy of the Order and documents giving more detailed particulars of the Order are available for inspection at the County Council's principal offices known as County Hall on Smedley Street in Matlock, at Ashbourne Library, Compton Street, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, DE6 1DA during opening hours and on request by emailing place.permanentTRO@ derbyshire.gov.uk quoting reference Z3450E. Any person who wishes to question the validity of the Order, or any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of The Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the ground that a requirement of that Act or any relevant regulation made under it has not been complied with may, within 6 weeks from the 20 November 2025 make application for the purpose to the High Court. The Council will consider whether the provisions of the Experimental Traffic Order should be continued indefinitely by a Permanent Order. All objections to the making of a Permanent Order must (a) be made in writing (b) state the grounds on which they are made (c) provide a name and address for contact purposes (d) be sent to the Executive Director - Place, Derbyshire County Council, County Hall, Matlock DE4 3AG (For Attention of Traffic and Safety Team quoting reference Z3450P) or email place.permanentTRO@derbyshire.gov. uk within 6 months of the coming into force of (1) the Experimental Traffic Order or (2) any relevant variation or modification Order to the Experimental Traffic Order.
THE EXPERIMENTAL ORDER WILL COME INTO FORCE NOT LESS THAN 7 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THIS NOTICE ON THE 4TH DAY OF DECEMBER 2025 AND CONTINUE UNTIL THE 3RD DAY OF JUNE 2027 INCLUSIVE.
The Experiment is to monitor the effectiveness of the restrictions in discouraging cutting through HGVs.
