M1 Motorway (Between Junctions 30 and 48) - Temporary Traffic Prohibitions
What is happening?

THE M1 MOTORWAY (JUNCTION 30 TO JUNCTION 48)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited (Company No. 09346363) intends to make an Order on the M1 Motorway, in the Counties of West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, to enable maintenance and improvement works to be carried out in safety.
The works are expected to take place overnight between 8pm and 6am during a period starting on 2 January 2026 and ending on 23 December 2026.
The effect of the Order will be to impose prohibitions on the following lengths of carriageway:
(i) the M1, in both directions, between Junction 30 and Junction 48 (including East Link Road Interchange Roundabout and Austhorpe Interchange Roundabout);
(ii) all slip and link roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway described above; and
(iii) all refuge areas on the lengths of carriageway described above.
During any road closures traffic will be diverted via alternative junctions of the M1, M62, M621, A1(M) and local roads. These diversions will be clearly indicated by traffic signs throughout the area.

The prohibitions will not apply to emergency services, works, winter maintenance, or traffic officer vehicles. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall be indicated by traffic signs.
The Order comes into force on 1 January 2026 and will expire on 23 December 2026.
