Roman Road, Temporary Road Closure To Form New Roundabout
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH OF BLACKBURN WITH DARWEN
(ROMAN ROAD, DARWEN) (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is hereby given that the Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, made the above Order under Section 14 (1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
The effect of the Order is to close Roman Road for the following extent:
400M NORTH OF JUNCTION WITH POT HOUSE LANE. The closure is necessary for the following reason: FORM NEW ROUNDABOUT AS PER AGREED S278 SCHEME
The Order will come into force on 1st December 2025 and shall continue in force for a period of eighteen months or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 12th December 2025.
The alternative route for the affected traffic will be Roman Road, Marsh House Lane, Sudell Road, Hardman Way, Bolton Road, Borough Road, Green Street, The Green, Wood Street, Bury Street, Duckworth Street, Blackburn Road, Sandy Lane, Fore Street, Rakes Bridge, Stopes Brow and vice versa.
Access for emergency vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.
