(FOOTPATH NO. 26 (part) CARLTON HIGHDALE) ORDER 2025 No 7
Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 –
Section 14(1) (as amended)
Notice is hereby given that the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to prohibit any pedestrian from proceeding along part of Footpath No. 26 from the point of closure at Grid Reference SE 0378 7992 for a distance of approximately 10 metres to Grid Reference SE 0380 7995 in the Parish of Carlton Highdale, from 21 November 2025 until 21 May 2026 inclusive.
This Order follows an Emergency Notice dated 30 October 2025 until 20 November 2025 inclusive.
The closure will be put into effect, when necessary, by means of the erection of notices and signs.
An alternative route may be used during the closure period which will be as follows: -
From the point of closure at Point A, Grid Reference SE 0378 7992, proceed southwest for 124 metres along Footpath 20.85/26, to its junction with Footpath 20.85/4, then continue to the footbridge at Point B at Grid Reference SE 0370 7989. From the footbridge, continue along Footpath 20.85/4 for first a south-westerly and then north-westerly direction, for 548 metres to Point C at Grid Reference SE 0326 7995. Join the metalled road and turn east through Braidley to follow the main highway for 1.5km to Point D at Grid Reference SE 0446 8084. Turn southwest along Arkside Lane for 270 metres to Point E at SE 0437 8060. Then join Footpath 20.85/26 and proceed south-westerly for 945 metres to Point F at Grid Reference SE 0380 7995.
The closure is to safeguard the public whilst works are undertaken to the footbridge at Harkera Gill.
