Struther and Swinhill Road (Experimental Prohibition of Driving) Order 2026
Notice is hereby given that, on 18 November 2025 South Lanarkshire Council in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 9 and 10 of the Roads Traffic Regulation Act 1984 made and confirmed the above-mentioned Experimental Order.
The effect of the Experimental Order will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on part of Struther and Swinhill Road, Larkhall.
The Experimental Order will come into force on 1 January 2026 and remain in force for a period of up to 18 months. Copies of the Order as made and confirmed and of the accompanying plan are available for inspection on the council’s website.
The council will in due course be considering whether the provisions of the Experimental Order should be made permanent.
Any person wishing to object to these proposals for the order to be made permanent should send details ofthe grounds for objections in writing to the Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, Council Offices, Almada Street, Hamilton ML3 0AA or by email to parking.unit@southlanarkshire.gov.uk, by 1 July 2026.
This period being within six months, beginning with the day on which the Experimental Order comes into force on 1 January 2026.
Objections should only be sent to the council after 1 January 2026.
