What is happening?
SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL
(New Pit Lane, Bitton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of New Pit Lane which extends from a point 280m south east of its junction with Beach Hill south eastwards for 60m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with new water connection works. The order became operative from 1 December 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. Alternative route: Beach Hill, Gold Valley Lane, New Pit Lane and vice versa.
(Station Road, Charfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Station Road which extends from Horsford Road southwards for 100m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon road crossing installation works and road narrowing works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 1 December 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months.
The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 weeks duration.
Alternative route: Little Bristol Lane, Wotton Road and vice versa.
(Main Road, Mangotsfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Main Road which extends from Bridge Road eastwards for 410m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with overhead cabling works. The order became operative from 1 December 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration, between 9:30am and 3:30pm. Alternative route: A4174 Ring Road, A4175 Station Road Link, A4175 Station Road, A4175 Teewell Hill, B4465 Broad Street, B4465 Mangotsfield Road, B4465 Cossham Street, B4465 Pomphrey Hill, A4174 Ring Road, B4465 Shortwood Northern Link, B4465 Shortwood Hill.
(Badminton Road and The Street, Acton Turville) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. The order became operative from 1 December 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closures however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 days duration, between 8am and 5pm. SCHEDULE Badminton Road – that length which extends from Sodbury Road to The Street; The Street – that length which extends from Badminton Road to Littleton Drew Road.
Alternative route: B4040, A46, A433, B4014, A429, B4040 and vice versa.
(Cooper Road, Thornbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Cooper Road which extends from Brunel Way to Walker Way. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with telecoms maintenance works. The order became operative from 3 December 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 night duration, between 9pm and 5am. No alternative route available.
(Various Roads, Various Wards – Leaf Fall Programme) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has:- a) closed, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in column 1 of Schedule 1 to this notice; and b) suspended, temporarily, when the signs are covered, the South Gloucestershire Council (Park Road, Staple Hill) (Prohibition of Use by Heavy Commercial Vehicles of Over 7.5 Tonnes Maximum Gross Weight) Order 2002 in so far as it relates to the length of road specified in Schedule 2 to this notice to facilitate the alternative routes for heavy vehicles. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with leaf fall clearance works. The order became operative from 1 December 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The restrictions however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works. It is anticipated that the works at each location will be carried out between 9:30am and 3:30pm on the dates specified in column 2 of the said Schedule. See Schedule 3 for alternative routes.

(Public Footpath POL/12/20, Warmley) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the above order, made by South Gloucestershire District Council on 21 May 2025, has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 1 June 2026 or until such time as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the order has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers that length of Public Footpath POL/12/20 which extends from the entrance of POL/12/10 southwards for 20m. This order was required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon construction works and would have expired on 1 December 2025. Alternative Route: Follow signed diversion.
