As part of the scheme to install two new pedestrian crossings and speed humps it will be necessary to remove four trees to maintain clear visibility of the proposed crossings. The scheme will create a safer environment for all road users on a road that has seen two fatal and several serious collisions in recent years. However, in mitigation, 19 new trees will be planted within the surrounding street and park areas as part of the wider improvement works. This will include a community orchard comprising 14 apple trees.
