What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF CHELLS WAY, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Chells Way, Stevenage from its junction with Mobbsbury Way north westwards to its junction with Frobisher Drive, a distance of approximately 148m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Chells Way, Six Hills Way, A1155 St Georges Way/Fairlands Way and Chells Way.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 8 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ORCHARD ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Orchard Road, Stevenage from a point 24m south west of its junction with Julians Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 40m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Orchard Road, Julians Road, A602 (Lytton Way/High Street/James Way/Lytton Way), Bridge Road, Orchard Crescent and Orchard Road or via Orchard Road, Orchard Crescent, Bridge Road, A602 Lytton Way, Julians Road and Orchard Road.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 8 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BRICK KILN LANE, COCKERHOE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Brick Kiln Lane, Cockernhoe from a point 170m south east of its junction with Luton Road south eastwards for a distance of approximately 120m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Brick Kiln Lane, Chalk Hill, Lilley Bottom, Stony Lane, Lower Road and Brick Kiln Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 9 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF VARIOUS ROADS IN HITCHIN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”), except for access:-
1. that length of Highbury Road, Hitchin from its junction with Wymondley Road south westwards for a distance of approximately 13m.
An alternative route will be via Highbury Road, B656 Walsworth Road, Hollow Lane and Highbury Road.
2. that length of Hollow Lane, Hitchin from a point in line with the western boundary of No.151 Hollow Lane north eastwards to its junction with Highbury Road, a distance of approximately 44m.
An alternative route will be via Hollow Lane, B656 Walsworth Road and Highbury Road.
3. that length of Wymondley Road, Hitchin from its junction with Highbury Road north eastwards for a distance of approximately 25m.
An alternative route will be via Highbury Road, Whitehill Road, Oakfield Avenue, Ninesprings Way and Wymondley Road or via Wymondley Road, Ninesprings Way, Oakfield Avenue, Whitehill Road and Hollow Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 8 December 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN A602 LYTTON WAY AND DANESGATE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the following lengths of roads (“the Roads”) and to prohibit all vehicles from waiting at any time on both sides of these lengths of Roads whilst works are in progress:-
4. the southbound carriageway of A602 Lytton Way, Stevenage from its junction with the A1155 Fairlands Way roundabout south westwards and south eastwards to its junction with the A602 Six Hills Way roundabout, a distance of approximately 649m.
An alternative route will be via A1155 (Fairlands Way/St Georges Way) and A602 Six Hills Way.
5. that length of Danesgate, Stevenage from its junction with A602 Lytton Way north eastwards for a distance of approximately 118m.
An alternative route will be via A602 Lytton Way, A1155 (Fairlands Way/St Georges Way), A602 Six Hills Way, Danestrete and Danesgate.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Roads.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF REDHILL, RUSHDEN) ORDER NO.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Redhill, Rushden from a point 150m north west of its junction with Roe Green north westwards for a distance of approximately 150m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Redhill, C10 (unnamed road), The Street, Wallington Road, B656 Royston Bypass Interchange with Wallington Road, Baldock Bypass/Royston Road, C5 (unnamed road) and Redhill or via Redhill, C5 (unnamed road), A505 (Royston Road/Baldock Bypass), Wallington Road, The Street, C10 (unnamed road) and Redhill.
The Order is needed because the replacement of an existing telegraph pole is proposed to be executed near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 28 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF HEATH ROAD, BREACHWOOD GREEN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Heath Road, Breachwood Green from its junction with Colemans Road north westwards to its junction with St Marys Rise, a distance of approximately 166m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Chapel Road, Lye Hill, Whiteway Bottom, Dane Street, Chiltern Green Road, The Green, Kimpton Road, Kimpton Road (West), Luton Road, B652 High Street, B651 (Hitchin Road/Horn Hill), Lilley Bottom Road, Church Road, Darley Road and Heath Road.
The Order is needed because utility connection works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 24 November 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of B651 Whitwell Road, St Pauls Walden from its junction with Roberts Court north eastwards for a distance of approximately 500m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via B651 (Hitchin Road/High Street/ Horn Hill/Hitchin Road), B652 (High Street/Kimpton Bottom/Bower Heath Lane), B653 (Lower Luton Road/Lower Harpenden Road/Gypsy Lane/Windmill Road), A505 (Kimpton Road/Vauxhall Way/Stopsley Way/Hitchin Road/Offley Bypass/Moormead Hill/Offley Road/Upper Tilehouse Street), A602 Park Way, B656 London Road and B651 Whitwell Road.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, BALDOCK) (20 MPH ZONE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce a new 20 mph Zone in parts of Baldock as specified in the Schedule to this Notice. The Order will come into effect on Saturday 28 February 2026.
The original proposals included proposed waiting restrictions for Weston Way but due to objections received during formal consultation it has been decided that these will no longer be going ahead.

NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (1984 Act) to introduce new waiting and loading restrictions, parking bays, a taxi rank and a bus gate restriction in parts of Coreys Mill Lane, Stevenage as specified in the Schedules to this Notice. The Orders for the waiting and loading restrictions and parking bays will come into effect on Friday 12 December 2025 and the Orders for the taxi rank and bus gate restriction will come into effect on Friday 1 May 2026.
