Cassop-cum-Quarrington, Bowburn - Temporary Footpath Closure due to Development Works

(Temporary Footpath Closure) Order 2025
The above-named Order made by the Council on 16/5/2025, under section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and which became operational on 23/5/2025 has been continued in force from 23/11/2025, as approved by the Secretary of State for Transport, until 31/05/2026 or until completion of the works, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit all pedestrian traffic from proceeding on a 209 metre length of Footpath No.1 Cassop-cum-Quarrington Parish that extends generally westwards from the new internal roundabout at Harvey Way, and also a 349 metre length extending between the Harvey Way Roundabout and A688 near to Durham South (Bowburn Services), to enable development works to be undertaken. Throughout the period of closure, alternative routes are available to pedestrian traffic via the network of rights of way in the Bowburn / Tursdale area and new footways on the site.
