What is happening?

ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991
SCHEDULE I - SECTION 14 (1) (A) VARIOUS ROADS - TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS

I. The Council of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea hereby give notice that to facilitate highway improvement works they have made an Order the effect of which will be to impose temporary restrictions on vehicular traffic in the sections of the streets as listed in paragraph II below. In addition, the alternative routes are also shown. Directly affected residents will be notified in advance of the dates and anticipated duration of each closure. However, to allow for contingencies the order will remain in force for eighteen months.

II. 1. Courtfield Road – Closure at its junction with Gloucester Road. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic is via Ashburn Place, Harrington Gardens or Stanhope Gardens, Queens Gate, Queens Gate Place and Queens Gate Gardens.

2. Gloucester Road – prohibited right turn at its junction with Courtfield Road. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Harrington Gardens and Ashburn Place.

3. Gloucester Road – Directional lane closure for northbound vehicular traffic between Stanhope Gardens and Courtfield Road. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic is via Stanhope Gardens, Queens Gate and Cromwell Road, or Queens Gate, Queens Gate Place and Queens Gate Gardens.

4. Gloucester Road – Directional lane closure for southbound vehicular traffic between Courtfield Road and Stanhope Gardens. Alternative routes for vehicular traffic is via Cromwell Road, Queensberry Place, Harrington Road and Stanhope Gardens or Ashburn Place and Harrington Gardens.

5. Gloucester Road – Directional lane closure for southbound vehicular traffic between Cromwell Road and Stanhope Gardens. Alternatives route for vehicular traffic is via Cromwell Road, Queensberry Place, Harrington Road and Stanhope Gardens or Ashburn Place and Harrington Gardens.

6. Gloucester Road – Directional lane closure for southbound vehicular traffic between Cromwell Road and Courtfield Road. Alternatives routes for vehicular traffic is via Cromwell Road, Queensberry Place, Harrington Road and Stanhope Gardens or Ashburn Place and Courtfield Road.

7. Courtfield Road – prohibited right turn at its junction with Gloucester Road. Alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Ashburn Place and Harrington Gardens.III. To facilitate the works being carried out the Order will ban waiting at any time in the sections of carriageway specified above whilst the works are being carried out.

IV. The Order will come into effect on Thursday 13th November 2025 and under the provisions of the abovementioned Act will continue in force until such time as all the works are completed.

V. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform or a traffic warden.

VI. Nothing in this Notice shall apply to any vehicle being used in connection with the said works.
