Footpath 167, Marple - Temporary Closure For Works
What is happening?
THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (FOOTPATH 167, MARPLE) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) NOTICE 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Closure of Footpath 167 Marple, where it passes under the Peak Forest Canal at Peeres Road, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said footpath. This Order is necessary to allow for works on the canal and viaduct to take place. It is estimated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months. The following diversions will be provided: North along Turf Lea, then east on Footpath 174 M, then north again on the towpath to Footpath 165 M which is followed to Strines Road. South on Strines Road to Peeres Road South along Turf Lea onto Footpath 169 Marple, then onto footpaths into Cheshire East (Disley FP18, Disley FP64, Disley FP66, Disley FP10) to Strines Road, then north to Peeres Road. This Order will come into operation on the 27 November 2025 and will have effect for six months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
