What is happening?

THE METROPOLITAN BOROUGH COUNCIL OF STOCKPORT (BRIDLEWAY 161, STOCKPORT) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) NOTICE 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Metropolitan Borough Council of Stockport has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which introduced a Temporary Closure of part of Bridleway 161 Stockport, near its junction with Footpath 132 Stockport, whilst traffic signs to that effect are in place on or near the said bridleway. This Order is necessary to allow for works to be completed on part of the bridleway. It is estimated that the maximum duration of the works will be 6 months. The following diversion will be provided; north into Mersey Vale Country Park, then west along the old railway line coming back to Bridleway 161 Stockport. This Order came into operation on the 21 November 2025 and will have effect for six months, provided that if all necessary works are completed within a shorter period this Order shall cease to have effect at the end of that shorter period.
