What is happening?

SOUTH TYNESIDE COUNCIL
(HIGHFIELD ROAD, SOUTH SHIELDS – LIMITED WAITING & PERMIT PARKING) ORDER 2025

South Tyneside Council proposes to make an Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The effect of the Order will be to:- REVOKE Loading Bay Mon to Fri 9am- 5pm on Highfield Rd north side from a point 60m east of its junction with the east kerb line of Callum Drive for 18m in an easterly direction and INTRODUCE No Waiting At Any Time on Highfield Rd northeast side from its junction with eastern access to Highfield Garage south eastwards for 5m. Limited Waiting 2 hrs no return within 4 hrs at any time on any day on Highfield Rd northeast side from a point 51m southeast of its junction with Callum Drive south eastwards for 18.6m. Resident Permit Holder Parking on Highfield Rd northeast side from a point 90m northwest of its junction with Cheviot Rd south eastwards for 12.2m. Residents and visitors to properties 101; 103; 105 and 107 Highfield Rd will be able to park within the area identified as S24 with a valid permit/virtual permit. Full details of these proposals are contained in the draft order which, together with a plan showing the lengths of road affected and a statement of the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order, may be inspected from Monday to Friday between the hours of 10am and 2pm at the Town Hall at the address below. If you wish to raise an objection, express support or make any
other observations about these proposals, you must make them in writing to the Council’s Legal
Services Dept at the address below or by using the same email address above by 16 December
2025. Any objections must specify the grounds on which they are made.
