Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough Public Footpath (Leigh No. 4, 5 & 8 (Part)) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order means that no person shall, except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable use public footpath Leigh No. 4 from Point A as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365278 402719, in a generally easterly direction, to Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365433 402693 for a distance of approximately 176 metres.
Public footpath Leigh No. 5 from Point B as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365433 402693, in a generally easterly direction, to Point C as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365565 402708 for a distance of approximately 133 metres.
Public footpath Leigh No. 8 from Point D as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365736 402703, in a southerly direction, to Point E as shown on the Order Map at grid reference 365734 402660 for a distance of approximately 42 metres.
No alternative routes are available.
These public footpaths will be closed for a period of three months commencing on 8th December 2025 to undertake urgent works to Electricity North West electrical supplies/circuits.
Merton Grove, Tyldesley – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Merton Grove, Tyldesley) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Merton Grove, Tyldesley during the period of 19th January 2026 to 30th January 2026.
The alternative route for traffic is: Brook Drive – Manor Road.
The Order is necessary to allow a new service connection.
Lowton Road, Golborne – Temporary Closure
Notice of Proposals
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Lowton Road, Golborne) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Lowton Road, Golborne on 15th January 2026 between the hours of 7.00pm and 10.00pm.
The alternative route for traffic is: Church Lane – East Lancashire Road – Warrington Road – Bridge Street – High Street – Church Street.
The Order is necessary to allow the replacement of frame and cover.
Spa Road, Atherton at Railway Bridge – Temporary Closure

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Spa Road, Atherton at Railway Bridge) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.
The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Spa Road, Atherton at Railway Bridge on 12th December 2025 between 10.00am and 3.00pm.
The alternative route for traffic is: Fletcher Avenue – Devonshire Road.
The Order is necessary to allow access/assessment of bridge.
