High Street Gandhi Way - Order for the Prevention of Obstruction in Streets
What is happening?
THE KINGSTON UPON HULL CITY COUNCIL
TOWN POLICE CLAUSES ACT 1847
ORDER FOR THE PREVENTION OF OBSTRUCTION IN STREETS HIGH STREET GANDHI WAY, KINGSTON UPON HULL
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 17/11/2025, the Kingston upon Hull City Council made an Order under Section 21 of the Town Police Clauses Act 1847 for the purpose of preventing obstructions in the lengths of streets in the City of Kingston upon Hull hereinafter mentioned on the occasion of a Victorian Christmas Event, 29 and 30 November 2025.
The Order:-
(a) prohibits any person (except upon the direction or with the permission of a police constable in uniform) from driving, riding or propelling any vehicle or causing or permitting any vehicle to wait in or on that length of High Street between Scale Lane Staithe and its junction with Alfred Gelder Street; and Gandhi Way along its full length, Kingston upon Hull, between 8.30am and 5.30pm on the 29/11/2025 and 9.30am and 5pm on 30/11/2025;
(b) requires any person directed or permitted by a police constable in uniform to drive, ride or propel a vehicle or to cause or permit a vehicle to wait on or in the said lengths of streets during the said hours on the said days to obey the directions of the said police constable and of any other police constable in uniform, and
(c) requires all persons present in the said lengths of streets during the said hours on the said days to comply with the directions of any police constable in uniform.
The purpose of these closures is to ensure the safety of the public and operatives during Victorian Christmas Event.
The Order does not apply to fire brigade vehicles, ambulance and police vehicles.
The penalty for an infringement of the Order is a fine upon conviction not exceeding Four hundred pounds.
A copy of the said Order is available for inspection during normal office hours at the Reception Office at the Guildhall, Kingston upon Hull.
