THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF ST. HELENS
(BACK MARKET STREET, NEWTON LE WILLOWS) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF DRIVING, ORDER 2025)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 4th day of November, 2025, the St. Helens Borough Council made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as Amended), the effect of which will be that no person shall cause or permit a vehicle proceed in either direction along Back Market Street between Peel Street and Stanley Street, as and when directed by road traffic signs on-site.
The Order came into force on Monday 10th November 2025, and will have a maximum duration of eighteen months, but will terminate on completion of the works, which is expected to take nine days.
The alternative route will be via Peel Street, Market Street, Stanley Street and vice versa.
The reason for making this Order is to facilitate works to establish a new drainage connection into the existing foul drainage system, to service the new police station.
