Kendal, Temporary Road Closures Due To Kendal Christmas Celebrations

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL

(KENDAL MARKET PLACE AND BRANTHWAITE BROW, KENDAL) (KENDAL CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS)(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to facilitate the holding of the Kendal Christmas Celebrations (“the Event”) in Kendal and to enable members of the public to watch the Event, Westmorland and Furness Council has made an Order under Section 16A of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (the 1984 Act), with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport under Section 16(B)(6) of the 1984 Act, the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road in Kendal:

(i) Market Place, Kendal, for its entire length; and

(ii) Branthwaite Brow, Kendal, for its entire length.

There are no suitable alternative routes available for vehicles. A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

The Order will come into operation on 30 November 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of three days from that date. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required from 0600 hours to 2100 hours on Sunday 30 November 2025, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
