Dorset, Temporary Road Closures Due To Various Works

What is happening?

Temporary Closure of Bridport Road/Williams Avenue, Dorchester

DORSET COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 24 November 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months, however it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 5 December 2025. Works to take place between 2000hrs and 0600hrs.

This Order will enable Dorset Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works.

The effect of this Order will be:

[1] To impose temporary road closure on Bridport Road between its junctions with Hawthorne Road and Barrack Road - as and when indicated by signs on site

[2] To impose temporary road closure on Williams Avenue between its junction with Bridport Road and the main access to the hospital - as and when indicated by signs on site

A locally signed diversion route will be put in place to enable traffic to travel around the closed sections.

JAN BRITTON, Executive Director for Place Services - Dorset Council, Dorchester DT1 1XJ. Any person who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the Notice will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.

Temporary Closure of Various Footpaths, East Stour

DORSET COUNCIL intend, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make an Order under Section 14 [1] of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All pedestrians, will be prohibited from proceeding along sections of Public Right of Way N64/35, N64/34, N64/33, N64/78 The Order is needed in order to comply with health and safety regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to highway users. It will come into operation on 30 November 2025 for a period of 26 weeks.

This Order is required to enable high voltage overhead cable diversion as essential infrastructure of development.

An alternative route will be provided.
