What is happening?

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

CANTERBURY AREA

THE KENT COUNTY COUNCIL
(VARIOUS ROADS, CANTERBURY) (SPEED LIMITS)
(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER
(AMENDMENT No.1) ORDER 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL hereby make the above named Order under sections under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Paragraph 20 of Schedule 9 to the Act:

The effect of the Order will be to change the existing 30mph speed limit and implement a 20MPH speed limit on the following lengths of roads in Littlebourne, Canterbury:

CHERRY ORCHARD, CHURCH ROAD, COURT MEADOWS, ELMLEIGH ROAD, JUBILEE ROAD, THE ELDERS and ST VINCENTS CLOSE – For their entire length. BEKESBOURNE LANE – From its junction with High Street to a point 71 metres southwest of its junction with School Path. COURT HILL – From its junction with Church Hill to the northwestern boundary of Malt House. NARGATE STREET – From its junction with High Street to the southern boundary of 87 Nargate Street.

This order was originally advertised as Amendment 15 but due to the recent consolidation order it has been re-numbered as above.

The Order was made on 27 November 2025 and its provisions will come into effect on 28 November 2025.

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is given that KENT COUNTY COUNCIL, acting as the Local Traffic Authority and in exercise of its powers and under Sections 1(1), (2), 2(1) to (3), 3, 4, 19, 65(1) and 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act’) as amended and the Traffic Management Act 2004 (‘the Act of 2004’) as amended and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby propose to make the following order

The effect of the named Order will be to prohibit motor vehicles from turning right on the following length of road in Canterbury:-

UNION STREET - To prohibit motor vehicles from turning right at its junction with Military Road.

(AMENDMENT No.2)
ORDER 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council hereby make an Order under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which would be to reduce the existing speed limit to a 40mph speed limit in East Farleigh, Maidstone on the following length of road:-

DEAN STREET – From its junction with Heath Road for a distance of 179 metres in a northeasterly direction. HEATH ROAD – From a point 145 meters north west of its junction with Coppice Road for a distance of 915 meters in a north westerly direction.

This order was originally advertised as Amendment 18 but due to the recent consolidation order it has been re-numbered as above.

The Order was made on 27 November 2025 and its provisions will come into effect on 28 November 2025.

(AMENDMENT No.3) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is given that the Kent County Council hereby make the above-named Order under Sections 81, 82, 84 and 124 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which would be to: -

The effect of the order would be to reduce the existing 40MPH limit to 30MPH that will be denoted by streetlighting on the following length of road in Sheerness, Swale:-

MARINE PARADE - From the current 30 mph speed limit outside the Catamaran Yacht Club for a distance of 377 metres in an easterly direction.

This order was originally advertised as Amendment 14 but due to the recent consolidation order it has been re-numbered as above.

The Order was made on 27 November 2025 and its provisions will come into effect on 28 November 2025.

(CONSOLIDATION) ORDER (AMENDMENT No.6) ORDER 2025

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The Kent County Council, acting as the Local Traffic Authority and in exercise of its powers and under Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 19, 32, 35, 36, 45, 46, 49, 51, 53, 124 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (‘the Act‘), the Traffic Management 2004 and all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, hereby make the following Order:-

The effect of the named Order will introduce waiting restrictions (Double Yellow Lines) at any time on the following length of roads in St Nicholas At Wade, Thanet:-

BRIDGES CLOSE – DYL – On both sides of its junction with Down Barton Road for a distance of 10 metres in a south easterly direction. COURT ROAD – DYL – On its south west side at its junction with Down Barton Road for a distance of 10 metres in a north westerly direction. DOWN BARTON ROAD – DYL – (1) On the south east side to a point 10 meters north east and to a point 10 meters south east of its junction with Bridges Close. (2) On the south side at its junction The Street for a distance of 20 metres in a south westerly direction (3) On the north west side at its junction Court Road for a distance of 10 metres in a south westerly direction. THE LENGTH – DYL – (1) On the south west side of its junction with Manor Road for a distance of 10 metres in a south easterly direction (2) On both sides from the western boundary of number 4 Sea View Cottages The Length for a distance of 57 metres in a south easterly direction. (3) On both sides of its junction with A28 Canterbury Road extending the existing double yellow lines for a distance of 10 metres in a westerly direction. MANOR ROAD – DYL – (1) On the north west side of its junction with The Street for a distance of 17 metres in a southerly direction (2) On the east side of its junction with The Length for a distance 18 metres in a southerly direction. THE STREET – DYL – (1) On the south side at its junction with Down Barton Road for a distance of 20 metres in a south easterly direction.(2) On the south west side of its junction with Manor Road for a distance of 10 metres in a north westerly direction.

This order was originally advertised as Amendment 24 but due to the recent consolidation order it has been renamed as above.

The Order was made on 27 November 2025 and its provisions will come into effect on 4 December 2025.
