What is happening?

CITY OF BRISTOL
(DISTRICT OFF-STREET PARKING PLACES WITH CHARGES) ORDER 202-

The City Council of Bristol hereby gives NOTICE that it proposes to make a traffic order, the effect of which would be:-

1. to introduce parking charges and revise regulating restrictions in the existing free of charge 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday for vehicles (maximum period 3 hours stay – no return within 3 hours, except for motor cycles) off-street parking places at Beechwood Road (Fishponds), Callington Road (Brislington), Chalks Road (Redfield), Derby Street (Redfield), Ducie Road (Lawrence Hill), Machin Road (Henbury), Repton Road (Brislington), Stoke View (Fishponds), Waverley Road (Shirehampton) and Westbury Hill Car Park (Westbury-on-Trym) as specified in the Schedule to this Notice;

2. to introduce a business permit regime whereby local businesses may apply for Business Permits at a charge of £280 per year for use in the off-street parking places as specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Notice;

3. to introduce a medical permit regime whereby local healthcare centres may apply for:-

(a) parking bays within the off-street parking places as specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Notice for use by Medical Permit holders only at a charge of £280 per year;

(b) parking bays in the off-street parking places at Brunel Lock, Charles Place, Diamond Street, Hereford Street, Little Paradise (South), McAdam Way, Oldfield Place and Sheene Road; and

(c) Medical Permits for staff use in Medical Permit only bays at a charge of £5 per year;

3. to introduce within the off-street parking places specified in the Schedule to this Notice provision for:-

(a) pay & display parking bays for use by electric vehicles while connected to a charger only, and subject to any parking charges and regulating restrictions as specified therein;
(b) parking bays for use by Business Permit holders only;
(c) parking bays for use by Medical Permit holders only;
(d) parking bays for unrestricted use by motor cycles and pedal cycles only;
(e) parking bays for unrestricted use by disabled persons’ vehicles only;

4. to introduce within the off-street parking places at Brunel Lock, Charles Place, Diamond Street, Hereford Street, Little Paradise (South), McAdam Way, Oldfield Place and Sheene Road provision for parking bays for use by Medical Permit holders; and

5. to remove provision for the off-street parking places at Clayton Street, Avonmouth (Land at the south west side of Clayton Street), Little Paradise North, Bedminster (Land at Little Paradise) and Queens Road, Withywood (Land at the junction of Queen’s Road and Three Wells Road, Withywood) consequent upon development of the land.

How to object

Objections to the proposals, together with the grounds on which they are made, must be sent in writing to TRO Comments at the undermentioned address or by e-mail to tro.comments@bristol.gov.uk quoting reference CAE/RGW/P-1337 by 12th December 2025.

Please include your name and address and note that all representations received may be considered in public by the City Council and that the substance of any representation together with the name and address of the person making it could become available for public inspection.
