Milton Square, Gateshead - Footpath Closures For Install Replacement Gas Infrastructure
What is happening?
THE BOROUGH COUNCIL OF GATESHEAD
(MILTON SQUARE, GATESHEAD FOOTPATH CLOSURES) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that on the 19 November 2025 the Borough Council of Gateshead made an Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit all pedestrians from proceeding along the footpaths as set out in the Schedule below. The Order is required to facilitate works being carried out to install replacement gas infrastructure.
The Order will come into force on the 24 November 2025.
The maximum duration of the Order will be 6 months, however the works are expected to be completed on the 19 December 2025. During the works all pedestrians (except pedestrians associated with the works and emergency service operatives on duty) will be prohibited from proceeding along the footpaths as set out in the Schedule below until the works are completed or at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. During the prohibition there will be a signed diversion in place.

Location of Footpath Description
Cemetery Road from the west side of No.1 Cemetery Road, from its junction with Cemetery Road in a northerly direction for a distance of 20 metres.
Milton Square i) from its junction with Milton Square Car Park to its junction with Cemetery Road Footpath, ii) from No.81 Milton Square, in a northerly, then northeasterly direction for 64 metres.
Malory Place i) from a point 21 metres West of its junction with Milton Square Car Park, in a northerly, then north easterly direction for a distance of 82 metres, ii) 54 metres Southwest of its junction with Cemetery Road Footpath, in an easterly direction for a distance of 80 metres, iii) 38 metres Southwest of its junction with Cemetery Road Footpath, outside of 34 Malory Place, in an easterly direction for a distance of 93 metres, iv) adjacent to 25 Malory Place, from its junction with Milton Square in a southerly direction for a distance of 24 metres.
