What is happening?
NOTICE OF PUBLIC PATH ORDER TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING ACT 1990, SECTION 257 AND PARAGRAPH 1 OF SCHEDULE 14. WILDLIFE AND COUNTRYSIDE ACT 1981.
THE COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF MIDDLESBROUGH (MIDDLESBROUGH FOOTPATH No 29, COULBY NEWHAM) DIVERSION AND DEFINITIVE MAP AND STATEMENT MODIFICATION ORDER 2025
The above Order was made on the 14th day of November 2025. The effect of the Order will be to: (1) divert the public footpath running from its junction with Middlesbrough No. 28 at Grid Ref. NZ 51452 / 13792 which proceeds in a generally southerly direction for approximately 86 metres along the boundary fence and hedge line to a point on the path at Grid Ref. NZ 51456 / 13708. Then from a point on Middlesbrough No. 29 near Rye Hill Way at Grid Ref. NZ 51496 / 13454 the path proceeds in a generally southerly direction for approximately 127 metres across the field to a point on the path near to the Farm track to Newham Hall Farm at Grid Ref. NZ 51530 / 13331; and (2) create an alternative footpath instead on a line running from its junction with Middlesbrough No. 28 at Grid Ref. NZ 51438 / 13783 then proceeding in a generally westerly direction for approximately 40 metres to Grid Ref. NZ 51400 / 13774 and then in a generally south easterly direction for approximately 88 metres to a point on the path at Grid Ref. NZ 51456 / 13708. Then from a point on Middlesbrough No. 29 near Rye Hill Way at Grid Ref. NZ 51496 / 13454 the path proceeds in a generally easterly direction for approximately 28 metres to a point on the path at Grid Ref. NZ 51525 / 13460 then in a generally southerly direction for approximately 72 metres to Grid Ref. NZ 51520 / 13396 then in a generally easterly direction for approximately 18 metres to Grid Ref. NZ 51538 / 13398 then in a generally south westerly direction for approximately 71 metres to a point on the path near to the Farm track to Newham Hall Farm at Grid Ref. NZ 51530 / 13331 as shown on the Order maps and The Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough definitive map and statement shall be modified accordingly. A copy of the Order and the Order maps can be viewed at Central Library, Centre Square, Middlesbrough, TS1 2AY between the hours of 9am to 5pm Mondays to Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at www.middlesbrough.gov.uk. Any representation about or objection to the Order may be sent or delivered in writing addressed to the Director of Legal and Governance Services, Middlesbrough Council, PO Box 503, Middlesbrough, TS1 9FX not later than the 18th December 2025. Please state the grounds on which it is made. If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Council of the Borough of Middlesbrough may itself confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
