TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025 (NORWICH)
Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984
Norfolk County Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, hereby give notice that:
i) THEY PROPOSE TO MAKE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
CLEVELAND ROAD – from its junction with Upper St Giles Street to its junction with Chapel Field North to facilitate traffic lights vehicle sensor repair works between 20:00 and 23:59 on 25th November 2025 (may continue until 6th January 2026). Alternative route is via: St Giles Street, Gaol Hill, Exchange Street, St Andrews Street, Duke Street, St Crispins Road, Barn Road, Grapes Hill. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
DEREHAM ROAD – Dereham Road (eastbound lane) from its junction with Sweet Briar Road Roundabout for 45m eastwards to facilitate water meter replacement works between 19:00 and 22:00 on 27th November 2025 (may continue until 8th January 2026). Alternative route is via: Guardian Road, Farrow Road, Earlham Road, Colman Road, Mile End Road, Newmarket Road, St Stephens Road, Chapel Field Road, Grapes Hill, Dereham Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
GLOUCESTER STREET – from 3m southeast of its junction with Unthank Road for 10m south-eastwards to facilitate new gas connection works from 24th to 30th November 2025 (may continue until 11th January 2026). Alternative route is via: Gloucester Street, Maud Street, York Street, Unthank Road. The works promoter is Cadent.
MARTINEAU LANE – from 85m southwest of its junction with Barrett Road for 40m south-westwards to facilitate bridge survey and maintenance works between 22:00 on 27th November and 06:00 on 28th November 2025 (may continue until 9th January 2026). Alternative route is via: Long John Hill, Stoke Road, Arminghall Lane, Norwich Road, Markshall Lane, Markshall Farm Road, Ipswich Road Southern Bypass Roundabout, Norwich Southern Bypass, Ipswich Road, Lakenham Road, Hall Road, Barrett Road, Martineau Lane, Loddon Road, Mansfield Lane, Sandy Lane, Cooper Lane and vice versa (Norwich, Keswick and Intwood, Caistor St. Edmund and Bixley). The works promoter is Network Rail Infrastructure.
ROSARY ROAD – from 60m northwest of its junction with Hill House Road for 30m north-westwards to facilitate chamber adjustment and repair works from 24th to 26th November 2025 (may continue until 7th January 2026). Alternative route is via: Rosary Road, Thorpe Road, Carrow Road, Canary Way, Koblenz Avenue, Clarence Road. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
ii) THEY HAVE MADE Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders in respect of the following roads:
DEREHAM ROAD SERVICE ROAD – from its junction with Dereham Road for 20m northwards to allow resurfacing works to be undertaken safely. The Order continues the provisions of the Notice dated 7th November 2025 that the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) from 12th to 14th November 2025 (previously 7th to 11th November 2025) (may continue until 26th December 2025). Alternative route is via: Dereham Road, Sweet Briar Road, Hellesdon Hall Road, Hellesdon Road, Marl Pit Lane, Jex Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Norfolk County Council.
WALDECK ROAD –
1) Waldeck Road from its junction with Mile End Road for 50m westwards will be temporarily closed and
2) Waldeck Road from its junction with Mile End Road to its junction with Leopold Road shall be temporarily subject to the suspension of the one-way system (westbound) to facilitate Anglian Water sewer repair works from 17th to 18th November 2025 (may continue until 30th December 2025). Alternative route is via: Onley Street, Gloucester Street, Leopold Road and vice versa. The works promoter is Anglian Water.
Unless otherwise stated, the effect of these Orders will be to prohibit the use by vehicles of the named road(s)/footpath(s). In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance. Where an Order is for a reason other than works it is because of the likelihood of danger to the public or of serious damage to the road/footpath. Anticipated dates are stated but the Orders may continue until the end date where necessary or required. The Orders are revoked on the end date or on the actual date of removal of the prohibition/restriction where earlier without further notice. If necessary, the restrictions can have a maximum duration of 18 months or 6 months in respect of footpaths, cycle paths, bridleways, restricted byways, and byways open to all traffic (BOAT).
Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.
