Ratcliffe Wharf Lane - Temporary Prohibition Of Through Traffic

What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(RATCLIFFE WHARF LANE, FORTON, WYRE BOROUGH)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause any motor vehicle to proceed over that length of Ratcliffe Wharf Lane, Forton from outside Vale Cottage to outside Ratcliffe Wharf Barn.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 2359 hours on Monday 10th November 2025 until 2359 hours on Tuesday 31st March 2026 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. Vehicular access for residents will be maintained whenever and wherever possible. Pedestrian access to properties will always be maintained.
5. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Stoney Lane – School Lane – Winder Lane and vice versa.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow urgent bridge surveys and repair
works following a bridge strike to be carried out by the Canal and River Trust.

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) NOTICE 2025
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council consider it necessary or expedient by reason of works being executed on the following
length of road that the prohibition should come into force without delay under Section 14(2)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this Notice.
1. No person shall cause any class of traffic to proceed over that length of Ratcliffe Wharf Lane, Forton from outside Vale Cottage to outside Ratcliffe Wharf Barn.
2. Nothing in this notice shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 1100 hours on Thursday 6th November 2025 until 2359 hours on Monday 10th November 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. A diversion will be signed locally.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow urgent bridge surveys and repair works following a bridge strike to be carried out by the Canal and River Trust.
