STOCKTON SPARKLES EVENT TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council propose to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 not less than seven days from the date hereof the Highway Authority being satisfied that access to the said road should be prohibited for the purpose maintaining public safety during the event.
The effect of the Order, which will come into effect on 27th November 2025, will be to temporarily close the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 below at such times as traffic management signs may be erected to notify highway users of the closure. A temporary clearway will also be introduced on various lengths of the High Street East Side Service Road, Stockton High Street, Knowles Street, Church Road, Bishopton Lane, Prince Regent Street, The Square and Thistle Green, Stockton at any time when traffic management signs have been erected to notify users of the restriction and no vehicle shall stop, wait, load or unload goods or passengers on those roads being clearways at those time. Contravention of the temporary clearway would result in removal of the vehicle. It is anticipated that the road closures and clearways will be required on the following dates and between the approximate times: Thursday 27th November 2025 05:00hrs - 11:59hrs and Sunday 7th December 2025 05:00hrs - 11:59hrs. The Order may continue in force for a maximum period of eighteen months. Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained. The restrictions and roads affected are specified in the draft order and plans which can be viewed on the Council’s website (Traffic orders).
Schedule 1 - Temporary Road Closures
High Street, Stockton - From its junction with Church Road to the northern extent of the southern bus turning loop, a distance of approximately 430 metres, including parking area to the south of The Shambles.
Knowles Street, Stockton - Full length
High Street, Stockton (Northbound) - Between its junctions with Church Road and Norton Road/Bishopton Lane.
Church Road, Stockton (Westbound) - Between its junctions with The Square (West) and High Street
