MARITIME ACADEMY, CHALK ROAD AND A228 FRINDSBURY HILL, STROOD WAITING, LOADING, STOPPING RESTRICTIONS, 20MPH & 30MPH SPEED LIMITS

NOTICE OF MAKING

Maritime Academy, Chalk Road, Strood (20 mph Speed Limit) order 2025 Maritime Academy, Chalk Road, Strood (30 mph Speed Limit) order 2025 Strood (Parking Places and Waiting, Loading and Stopping Restrictions) (Amendment No.23) order 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Medway Council on 18 November 2025 made the above-mentioned orders under the respective sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended. The general effects of the orders, which come into operation on 24 November 2025, will be to:

1. Introduce a speed limit of 20 miles per hour on:  
(a)  Chalk Road, from a point 48.22 metres south-west of its junction with the A228 Frindsbury Hill, south-westwards for a distance of 210.6 metres.

2.  Introduce a speed limit of 30 miles per hour on: (a)  Chalk Road, from its junction with the A228 Frindsbury Hill, south-westwards for a distance of 48.2 metres.

3.  Introduce a no stopping on clearways at any time restriction on the following lengths of road:

(a) Chalk Road, north-west side, from its junction with the A228 Frindsbury Hill, south-westwards for a distance of 52.8 metres.

(b)  Chalk Road, south-east side:

(i) from its junction with the A228 Frindsbury Hill, south-westwards for a distance of 65.4 metres,

(ii)  from its junction with the north-east kerb-line of the Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (North Entrance/Exit), north-eastwards for a distance of 5.5 metres.

(iii)  from its junction with the south-west kerb-line of the Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (North Entrance/Exit), south-westwards to the north-east kerb-line of the Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (South Entrance/Exit), a distance of 63.5 metres.

(iv)  from its junction with the south-west kerb-line of the Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (South Entrance/Exit), south-westwards for a distance of 68.1 metres.

(c)  Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (North Entrance/Exit), north-east side, from its junction with the south-east kerb-line of Chalk Road, south-eastwards for a distance of 6.1 metres.

(d)  Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (North Entrance/Exit), south-west side, from its junction with the south-east kerb-line of Chalk Road, south-eastwards for a distance of 6.8 metres.

(e)  Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (South Entrance/Exit), north-east side, from its junction with the south-east kerb-line of Chalk Road, south-eastwards for a distance of 8.9 metres.

(f)  Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (South Entrance/Exit), south-west side, from its junction with the south-east kerb-line of Chalk Road, south-eastwards for a distance of 10.5 metres.

4.  Introduce no waiting on Mondays to Saturdays 8am to 7pm restrictions on the following lengths of road:

(a)  A228 Frindsbury Hill, north-west side, from a point 16.1 metres north-east of the common boundary between Nos. 243 and 245 Frindsbury Hill, north-eastwards for a distance of 42.9 metres,

(b)  A228 Frindsbury Hill, south-east side, from its junction with the Maritime Academy Access Road, southwestwards for a distance of 53.2 metres,

(c)  Chalk Road, north-west side, from opposite a point 5.5 metres north-east of the extended north-east kerb-line to the Maritime Academy School Car Park Access Road (North Entrance / Exit), southwestwards for a distance of 149.9 metres.

5.  Copies of the orders and associated documents can be requested by sending an email: parkingdesign@ medway.gov.uk or by writing to Parking Design Team, Medway Council, Gun Wharf, Dock Road, Chatham, ME4 4TR before the end of a period of six weeks from the date on which the order was made.

6.  Persons wishing to question the validity of the order or any of its provisions on the grounds that it or they are not within the powers conferred by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the 1984 Act or any instrument made under that Act has not been complied with, that person may, within six weeks from the date on which the order was made, apply for the purpose to the High Court.
