Stepends Road -Temporary Road Closure For Bt Cabling Work
What is happening?

STEPENDS ROAD, PLAINS (TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025
On 10 November 2025 the North Lanarkshire Council made the above-named Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by Schedule 1 of the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, and in exercise of all other enabling powers, which makes it unlawful for any person to drive or cause or permit to be driven any motor vehicle (with the exception of vehicles engaged on BT cabling works) on Stepends Road, Plains from the extended south kerb line of A89 Main Street to the extended line of Brownieside Road by reason of works being executed on or near that location.
Alternative routes: Vehicles on A89 Main Street at the north side of the closure wishing to travel to Stepends Road at the south side of the closure should travel generally southwestwards on A89 Main Street, south-eastwards on Brownieside Road to the south side of the closure.
Vehicles on Stepends Road at the south side of the closure wishing to travel to A89 Main Street at the north side of the closure should travel generally north westwards on Brownieside Road north eastwards on A89 Main Street to the north side of the closure.
Pedestrian access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.
Vehicular access will be maintained, where practicable, during the closure.
The Order, will come into operation at 0001 hours on Monday, 24 November 2025 and will remain in operation until 2359 hours on Monday, 1 December 2025.
