Proposal for a new satellite site for Raise

Rochdale Pupil Referral Service, Saxon Hall, Samson Street, Rochdale, OL16 2XW From September 2028

Notice is given that Rochdale Borough Council is considering the creation of a new satellite school to be managed by:

Raise Rochdale Pupil Referral Service, whose postal address is Saxon Hall, Samson Street, Rochdale, OL16 2XW

Rochdale Council is now consulting on a proposal to reprovide places at Raise Rochdale Pupil Referral Service (PRS), from September 2028, through the opening of a new satellite school, off Mayfield Street, Central Rochdale Ward, Rochdale.

A Pupil Referral Service (PRS) school is an alternative education provision designed for students who are unable to attend mainstream schools due to various challenges.

The change at the school would re-provide 64 places, from September 2028, at a new site and provide classrooms designed for alternative provision and vocational training. Rochdale Borough Council will implement the proposal if approved by the Director for Children’s Services following the statutory consultation.

The proposal can be accessed on the Council website at: https://consultations.rochdale.gov.uk/childrens-services/ c292cf1b/

The consultation ends at midnight on the 19th December 2025. Any person may make comments on the proposal or get further details by writing to School Admissions, School Organisation and Development Team, Early Help and Schools, Rochdale Borough Council, Number One Riverside, Smith Street, Rochdale, OL16 1XU or by emailing fay.davies@rochdale.gov.uk.
